The Splendopus

Hello,

I just wanted to share my newest creation with you all – The Splendopus (he’s a splendid octopus). He has a top hat, pipe and well groomed moustache. He’s a patch work piece that I created for on a community art piece called The Fantabulous Travelling Steampunk Yarnbomb. When I have full details of its touring I shall post them on here. A whole load of artists and Steampunks have been involved in the piece, we all submit a patch or object and then Hazel combines it all together to make one huge yarnbomb. I used felt to make my creation. I hope if the yarnbomb travels somewhere near to you that you manage to see it!

Testing, 1,2,3,

Testing out my new work to see how its looking and what is or isn’t working. There’s still quite a few bits to finish off but its well on the way. The green monster will have legs too and they all need them stuffing as well.

I left the room for a few minutes and when I came back I saw that my Dad had been busying playing with scrap fabric – tut.

New Work

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are having a nice Monday, the sun is out here and its fairly warm which is nice. Here are a few photos of the stuff I’ve been creating as part of my new installation, I don’t want to give too much away yet 🙂

Also here is a photo of my 10kg bag of polyester teddy stuffing that arrived a couple of weeks ago – its as tall as the door! It also blocked out all the light making the photo very dark, sorry about that.

Double the Fun

Hello Everyone,

I do apologise for the lack of posts on this blog. The good news is that I’m currently working away on some art so you can expect posts to be more frequent for a while. The 20-21 Open Art & Sculpture Exhibition that I usually enter around September time is taking place much earlier this year in mid July. I only found out about this maybe 2 weeks ago at the most so I’m in panic mode at the moment to get it finished in time to submit. I’m intending doing a mini installation for this years entry, whether it will get picked or not who knows but it’s worth a try. If not then I can always try entering it other places or seeing if I can show it at a local gallery or something. Anyway, do you remember the blue monster I posted before? Well now he has a friend! In fact he actually has 2 but I haven’t uploaded those photos yet, also they aren’t quite finished – I ran out of stuffing. Hope you like them!

Long Time No Post

Hello Everyone,

Firstly I would like to apologise for the lack of updates and work on here lately. Unfortunately this year isn’t going very well so far in regards to art. I have been making things but they are all more craft based and have been for various events that I’ve been going to. I will not be taking part in the insight open studios event this year either sadly as I just don’t have the time to produce lots of new artworks for it. I will hopefully be doing the Christmas market again at the Ropewalk in Barton and will be applying to the 20-21 Visual Arts Centre open exhibition.

As I don’t have any actual new art to show you I will instead share some of my latest craft projects just so I can at least show you something as purely text based posts are a bit boring especially on an art blog. Hope you are all doing well and hopefully I will soon be able to post actual art images again as I will be kicking in to action on a few projects soon.

Stay tuned for more!
